Riverton Remembers September 11Riverton residents and neighbors are invited to come together this September to remember the fateful events that took place on September 11, 2001. A trifecta of free and educational events, all part of the Riverton Remembers 9/11 initiative, are planned to help the community remember the innocent people who lost their lives in the terrorist attack that day 19 years ago. Events include: Flag Remembrance Displays, Patriot Day Car Show Parade, and multi-location Patriotic Firework Show with a special soundtrack streamed live on KODJ 94.1 FM.

“Our goal with these events is to provide our residents with an opportunity to reflect on the tragedies that occurred on September 11th, 2001, in ways that are both reverential and unifying,” said Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs. “Our nation came together in an unprecedented way following the terrorist attacks 19 years ago. It is my hope that we can remember those who died; honoring their lives with a newfound commitment to advancing the ideals of our founding – freedom, equality and self-governance. Remembering that even today in what can be a very divisive world, that there is so much more that unites us as Americans than divides us.”

Five flag remembrance displays will be set up throughout Riverton where individuals and families can visit to learn about those who were killed on September 11 and to reflect on their own feelings from that day. Collectively, there will be 911 American flags displayed to represent that day.
