SURVEY: 93% of Riverton Residents Satisfied with Quality of Life

Riverton City LogoRiverton City has released the results of a citizen survey conducted in December 2021 to assist the city’s elected officials in strategic planning and budgeting efforts. The results of the survey were formally presented to the Riverton City Council in a strategic planning meeting on Saturday, January 22, 2022.

“We had a tremendous response rate from our citizens with 10% of our adult population completing the survey,” said Mayor Trent Staggs. “We made citizen engagement one of our priorities four years ago and have taken deliberate steps to increase it since then. The amount of participation in this survey is unprecedented for us and absolutely shows that our community is becoming more informed and engaged.”

The survey was completed online by 2,875 Riverton residents between Wednesday, December 8 and Friday, December 18, 2021. Residents were invited to complete the survey using a variety of tools, including email, text, and social media. A postcard was also sent to every Riverton household to ensure there was not a digital bias in responses received.

Given the adult population of Riverton, about 28,700 people, and the high response rate of 10%, the survey has a margin of error of ±3% and a confidence level of 99%. In terms of overall satisfaction, Riverton residents reported the following in the survey:

  • 93.05% of residents report being somewhat or very satisfied with quality of life in Riverton.
  • 85.42% of residents report being somewhat or very satisfied with the services provided by the Riverton City government.

“The results of the survey have already aided our City Council in the early development of new strategic priorities, and will no doubt aid us in future policy and budget decisions,” Staggs said. “People like living in Riverton and it’s our city government’s job to preserve what makes Riverton special and to improve in the areas our residents have identified.”
