The Riverton City Council honored Scott Crump in their Feb. 20 meeting for his contribution to preserving history for the Riverton community. Crump, a long-time local educator, served on the Riverton City Historical Society when it was first formed in 1984 and was the co-author of the book “Riverton – The Story of a Utah Country Town” with Mel Bashore in 1994.

“What an honor it is to recognize Scott Crump for his incredible contribution to Riverton City and for his work in preserving our history,” said Riverton City Mayor Trent Staggs. “He laid the foundation of historical preservation for our city which can be built upon for years to come.”

Crump was also named as a lifetime honorary member of the Riverton City Historical Preservation Commission, which was recently reconstituted to carry on the work of historical preservation. The Mayor also offered the City's support for a second eddition of “Riverton – The Story of a Utah Country Town,” if Crump ever decides to do one.

In addition to Crump's recognition, Mayor Staggs signed a proclamation making the week of Feb. 18-24, 2018, as “Historic Preservation Week” in Riverton City to honor Crump and all others who contribute to historical preservation efforts within the city.
