Riverton City Lifts Temporary Signage Restrictions for Businesses

Given the local emergency declared in Riverton this week due to the health and economic impacts of COVID-19, Mayor Trent Staggs has issued a directive lifting restrictions on Riverton City’s temporary sign ordinance for businesses.

A provision exists in Riverton City’s sign ordinance that allows temporary freestanding and wall-mounted banner signs to be installed without a sign permit during holiday periods. This allowance has been extended to Riverton businesses for the next 60 days, starting March 19, 2020. At the end of the 60 days, the situation will be assessed.

Temporary signs that block visibility at driveways or intersections, or that create a safety hazard of any kind, are still prohibited.

Questions surrounding temporary signage can be directed to the Riverton City Planning Department at 801-208-3138 or planning@rivertonutah.gov.
