Solicitor License

Solicitor License ApplicationAll door-to-door residential solicitors planning to sell goods or services in Riverton must obtain a Solicitor License issued by Riverton City prior to conducting business, except persons exempt from registration. A license is valid for one year. A new license must be obtained each year when the license expires. Solicitor licenses are issued to individuals, not to companies.

To obtain a Solicitor License, please complete each step below:

Step 1: Review Solicitor Laws in Riverton
Read Riverton City Code Chapter 5.20 before applying for a Solicitor License. Ensure you fully understand all laws related to residential solicitation in Riverton.

Step 2: Obtain a BCI Background Check
Obtain an official Utah Criminal History Report from the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI). Contact BCI at the address or phone number below. BCI’s office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The bureau is closed weekends and state holidays.

You will need to scan your BCI background check and upload a clear, readable and complete copy as part of the Solicitor License application.

Step 3: Obtain a Personal Photo
Obtain a photo of yourself that 1) has been taken within the last six months, 2) clearly shows your face, and 3) shows a clean, mostly solid background. You will need to upload the photo as part of the Solicitor License application.

Step 4: Scan or Take a Photo of Personal Identification
Scan or take a photo of a valid driver’s license, valid passport, valid identification card, or valid US military identification. You will need to upload a clear, readable scan or photo of your identification as part of the Solicitor License application.

Step 5: Apply for a Riverton City Solicitor License
Once you have completed all the steps above, you are now ready to apply for a Riverton City Solicitor License. You can apply for a license and pay the required fee using the button below. Once you have received your license, you are approved to conduct business in Riverton.
